Child Friendly Search Engine 'Swiggle'
Swiggle is Designed for Kids
Having Swiggle as the search engine page for young children ensures their search environment is safer; safer to experiment with different search strings; safer to browse image or content results. It’s a safe sandpit to develop those skills before progressing on to more open and transparent online search engines like Google or Bing.
Swiggle.org.uk is built on Google SafeSearch technology but has a number of active features that encourage children to respond to and report inappropriate online content they find, rather than “Whoops! Let’s move on!” Children are encouraged to report content they think should not be accessible from your school network.
We even provide a Screen Cover Tool to encourage self-regulation and seeking out adult support. Active participation in managing online content.
Screen Addiction Guide
The National Online Safety website have published a poster to raise awareness for parents about children and screen addiction, "It can be challenging for parents and carers to know whether children are spending too much time on their devices. Furthermore, it’s even more of a challenge to know whether a child is addicted to the internet and social media. As technology is becoming more pervasive, children and young people are experiencing tech – related dependencies. Do we as parents and carers have the knowledge to identify and support children and young people who may be developing an addiction to their devices?"
